Anything west of Pier Park, anything north of Front Beach Road, anything within five nautical miles of Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport: that is controlled airspace. A Part 107 remote pilot still needs an LAANC authorization to fly there. LAANC is the FAA's automated system for approving drone flights inside controlled airspace. Most requests near the corridor's airports and military airspace clear in under a minute when they are filed correctly. The system authorizes a specific location and altitude ceiling, so an imprecise address produces either a rejected request or an authorization for the wrong grid cell. What we actually need from the listing agent: a full street address or GPS coordinates if the lot has no address yet, the lockbox or gate code if the property is gated, a contact number for the homeowner or property manager, and a heads-up on any HOA flight restriction. The thirty seconds it takes to send an exact address, a gate code, a contact number, and an HOA note when you book the shoot saves a full half-day on the back end.
