Most rental managers we work with refresh photos when a property gets a renovation, or when reviews start mentioning something visible. Both of those are lagging signals. The leading signal is the calendar itself. When a listing that used to book six to eight weeks out starts filling later and later for the same season, the photo set is often the stalest thing on the page. The fix is rarely a full reshoot. Most refreshes we do are a short visit: replace the handful of images the platform actually surfaces as thumbnails, add a few seasonal lifestyle frames, and swap the hero image. If the property has had a real physical change, that is usually worth a full reshoot, because partial updates next to older photos create an inconsistent gallery. Watching the calendar, not the review feed, is what catches the problem while it is still cheap to fix.
